NAHSE Statement on the Supreme Court's Ruling on Affirmative Action

We at the National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE) are deeply disappointed
that American universities will no longer be allowed to consider an applicant’s race as one of the
countless influential factors in the admissions process. As Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown
Jackson stated: “Deeming race irrelevant in law does not make it so in life.”

NAHSE’s mission is to promote the advancement and development of Black healthcare leaders
and elevate the quality of healthcare services rendered to minority and underserved communities.
We are more determined than ever to promote programs and opportunities that increase
representation.  This includes ensuring that our academic institutions have a richly diverse
student body in race, gender, and class. Such diversity is critical in solving the problems within
our society today. The law may change, but NAHSE’s commitment to equity will not. We stand
committed to ensuring the diversity, vibrancy, and excellence of our workforce.  For more
information on our programs and how you can support our efforts, go to www.nahse.org.
